Raven vs. Tommy Dreamer (Jan 1995 – Jun 1997)
ECW built its signature rivalry on a fabricated summer-camp backstory, a manager who slept with the villain out of teenage spite, and two and a half years in which Tommy Dreamer lost to Raven every single time, before finally beating him in a Loser Leaves match that sent Raven to WCW.

Sabu vs. Taz (Feb 1995 – Apr 1997)
Sabu and Taz won the ECW World Tag Team Championship together, then Sabu skipped a scheduled title match to take a better-paying date in Japan, and Paul Heyman legitimately fired him in front of the ECW Arena crowd. The real resentment Taz carried over it simmered for two years before ECW turned it into one of the two featured matches on the company's first pay-per-view.
